Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to sales and other transactions between GlassFlemming (Business ID 3601537-8, “GlassFlemming”, “we”) and its customers (“customer”, “you”).

GlassFlemming sells handcrafted glass art, jewelry, decorative glass objects and lampworking courses to both private individuals and businesses. Our products are individually handmade, and each piece may therefore have unique characteristics that distinguish it from other pieces.

Ordering products

When placing an order, the customer must provide the following information:

Name
Postal address
Telephone number
Email address

Our online store requires a telephone number at the time of ordering. We require the telephone number and email address for delivery tracking and notification purposes. You may receive an SMS notification or email when your shipment is ready for collection.

By placing an order, the customer agrees to the delivery and payment terms applicable at the time of the order.

Communication between GlassFlemming and the customer is primarily conducted by email or telephone.

In cases involving an obvious pricing, product or other error, GlassFlemming reserves the right to invoke such error where the error was so apparent that the customer should reasonably have understood that an error had occurred.

Products that are custom-made or permanently modified specifically for a customer cannot be returned or exchanged, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

GlassFlemming reserves the right to decline or cancel an order where permitted by applicable law.

Prices

All prices displayed on our website and in our price lists include Finnish VAT at the applicable rate. The VAT rate currently applied is 25.5%.

In cases involving an obvious pricing error, GlassFlemming reserves the right to invoke such error where the error was so apparent that the customer should reasonably have understood that the stated price was incorrect.

Delivery

Available products are generally delivered within 3-5 business days.

We will inform the customer if estimated delivery time is longer than normal.

GlassFlemming is not responsible for delays caused by the carrier or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

For shipments arranged by GlassFlemming, GlassFlemming is responsible for the goods until they have been handed over to the carrier or other delivery provider agreed with the customer. Thereafter, responsibility for loss or damage to the goods is determined in accordance with the carrier’s applicable terms and conditions, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Packaging and fragile goods

Glass is a fragile material and our products are carefully packaged for transportation.

The customer should inspect the package and product as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

If the package appears visibly damaged upon delivery, the customer should, where possible, document the damage before opening the package and contact us promptly.

If the product has been damaged during transportation, please contact us as soon as possible and provide photographs of:

The outer packaging
The inner packaging
The damaged product

This information may be required when investigating a transport-related damage claim.

Customers should not dispose of damaged packaging or products until the matter has been resolved, unless otherwise instructed.

Returns

Saleable products may generally be returned within 14 days, counted from the day the customer receives them, except for custom-made products and products that have been permanently modified specifically for the customer.

Return shipping costs will be deducted from the amount refunded for the returned products, where applicable.

To initiate a return, please contact GlassFlemming by email or through this withdrawal contact form before sending the product back.

Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase, unless otherwise agreed or required by applicable law.

Nothing in this section limits any mandatory statutory rights applicable to consumers.

Payment terms

For purchases made through our online store, payment is processed through payment service provider Stripe.

Ownership of the goods remains with GlassFlemming until the purchase price has been paid in full, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Payment service provider

We use Stripe for payment processing. When you make a payment through our online store, Stripe may collect and process personal data necessary to process the transaction, such as your name, contact details, billing and shipping information, payment information, transaction details, and information relating to your device or payment method.

Stripe may also process personal data for purposes such as fraud prevention, payment authentication, security, and compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Stripe processes personal data in accordance with its applicable terms and privacy practices. Further information about how Stripe processes personal data is available in Stripe’s Privacy Policy and Privacy Center.

Defective or damaged products

All products are covered by the statutory consumer rights applicable to the purchase.

A product may be considered defective if, for example, it does not correspond to the agreed specifications, does not have the qualities that the customer can reasonably expect, or otherwise fails to comply with mandatory statutory requirements.

Normal characteristics of handcrafted glass, including minor variations caused by the manufacturing process, do not automatically constitute a defect.

If you believe that a product is defective or has been damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide a description of the issue and, where appropriate, photographs.

Glass should be handled carefully. Damage caused by improper handling, cleaning, storage, installation or use is not considered a manufacturing defect where permitted by applicable law.

Do not attempt to repair, modify or otherwise alter a damaged or potentially defective product before contacting us, unless necessary for safety reasons.

We will assess the issue and handle the matter in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation.

Under applicable consumer protection legislation, the buyer must notify the seller of a defect within a reasonable period after discovering the defect or when they should reasonably have discovered it.

Products must be returned appropriately and carefully packaged. GlassFlemming may refuse responsibility for damage caused by inadequate packaging during a return where such refusal is permitted by law.

GlassFlemming is not liable for indirect, consequential or other damages arising from an order, delivery or product, except to the extent that mandatory provisions of Finnish consumer protection legislation or other applicable law require otherwise.

Handmade products and natural variation

Our products are handcrafted individually rather than mass-produced. For this reason, no two pieces may be completely identical. Minor variations resulting from the glassmaking process are not automatically considered defects.

Product photographs are intended to provide a representative indication of the product. Appearance may vary depending on lighting conditions, photography, display settings and the individual piece.

Where a product is described as handmade, variations arising from the manufacturing process are an inherent part of the product.

Product information and dimensions

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, dimensions, colors, photographs and other information on our website are accurate.

Minor differences between the product information and the physical product may occur as a result of the handcrafted manufacturing process.

Safety instructions for beadmaking courses

Please read carefully before attending your course.

Your safety is important to GlassFlemming. Working with hot glass and an open flame requires care, attention and compliance with the safety instructions provided during the course.

By attending a GlassFlemming course, you agree to follow the instructions of the course instructor and to behave responsibly throughout the session.

1. Following Safety Instructions

All participants must follow the safety instructions given by the trained course instructor, Jan Lange, at all times.

If anything is unclear or you are unsure how to perform an activity safely, please stop and ask before continuing. Never hesitate to ask questions – making sure you understand the instructions is an essential part of working safely with glass and flame.

Failure to follow safety instructions may increase the risk of injury or damage to yourself, others or equipment.

2. Appropriate Clothing

Please wear clothing suitable for working around an open flame and hot glass.

Wear non-flammable or less-flammable materials, such as cotton or denim, where possible.
Avoid highly flammable or synthetic fabrics.
Do not wear loose, flowing or oversized sleeves.
Clothing should fit comfortably and allow you to work safely around the torch and equipment.

3. Hair, Jewellery & Personal Items

For your safety, please make sure that nothing can accidentally come into contact with the flame.

Long hair must be tied back and kept safely away from the working area.
Please remove necklaces, dangling earrings and other loose jewellery before working.
Avoid wearing accessories or clothing that could catch on equipment or come into contact with the flame.
Rings are preferably removed during the course, particularly if they could interfere with your work or come into contact with hot materials.

If you are unsure whether something you are wearing is suitable, please ask the instructor before beginning.

4. Working Safely

The torch and glass used during the course reach very high temperatures. Please remain attentive and follow the instructor’s guidance throughout the session.

Do not play with or deliberately misuse the torch, glass, tools or other equipment.
Do not touch hot glass, tools or other materials unless you have been instructed that it is safe to do so.
Keep your attention on your work and the instructions being given.
Never perform an unfamiliar technique without first receiving instruction.
Inform the instructor immediately if you notice anything unusual with the equipment or working environment.

5. Children & Minors

Children under the age of 16 may participate in a course under the direct supervision of an accompanying adult.

Participation by a minor must be agreed to and supervised by their parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for ensuring that the minor follows all safety instructions and behaves appropriately throughout the course.

6. Pregnancy

Due to the nature of glass bead making, including the use of an open flame, high temperatures and the working environment, GlassFlemming recommends that pregnant participants postpone their participation until after pregnancy.

Anyone who chooses to participate during pregnancy does so based on their own personal circumstances and should consider seeking appropriate professional medical advice beforehand.

7. Participant Responsibility

Every participant is responsible for listening to and following the safety instructions provided during the course.

If you have any questions, concerns or uncertainties at any point during the session, stop what you are doing and ask the instructor for assistance.

GlassFlemming aims to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for learning glass bead making. Safe working practices depend on both the instructor providing clear guidance and participants following that guidance carefully.

8. Alcohol, Medication & Fitness to Participate

Because the course involves open flames, high temperatures, hot glass and specialised equipment, participants must be able to remain fully alert and able to follow safety instructions throughout the course.

Participants must not attend or participate in the practical part of the course if they are:

  • Under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.
  • Intoxicated or otherwise impaired.
  • Experiencing significant drowsiness, reduced concentration, impaired coordination or delayed reactions.
  • Affected by medication or another substance in a way that could make operating a torch or working with hot materials unsafe.

If you are taking prescribed or over-the-counter medication that may cause drowsiness, dizziness, impaired coordination or reduced alertness, please consider whether you are fit to participate and seek appropriate professional advice if necessary.

GlassFlemming reserves the right to refuse or discontinue participation if the instructor reasonably considers that a participant is not sufficiently alert or fit to work safely with the equipment. In such circumstances, the safety of the participants and the instructor takes priority.

9. Physical Limitations & Accessibility

GlassFlemming aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for as many participants as possible. However, the practical nature of lampworking requires participants to be able to safely operate a torch, handle tools and glass, and maintain a suitable working position for the duration of the practical session.

The current GlassFlemming workshop is not wheelchair accessible, and the premises do not currently have the facilities or infrastructure necessary to provide safe wheelchair access or suitable adaptations for all mobility needs.

Certain physical conditions or limitations may also affect a person’s ability to participate safely. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Significant limitations in the use of the hands or arms.
  • Serious or recent hand injuries.
  • Conditions affecting grip, coordination, strength or fine motor control.
  • Amputations or other physical limitations that may affect the safe operation of the torch or handling of hot glass and tools.
  • Any other physical limitation that makes it difficult or unsafe to maintain the required working position or operate the equipment.

This does not mean that every person with a disability, injury or physical limitation is automatically unable to participate. Safety depends on the individual’s circumstances and the specific requirements of the course.

If you have a disability, injury, mobility limitation or other physical consideration that may affect your ability to participate safely, please contact GlassFlemming before booking or attending the course. This allows the situation and any available options to be discussed in advance rather than on the day of the course.

If the required safety conditions cannot reasonably be met within the current premises and equipment, participation may not be possible.

10. Agreement

Participants will be asked to confirm that they have read and understood these terms and conditions before attendance, and agree to follow the safety instructions provided by GlassFlemming.

Statutory consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to restrict or exclude any mandatory rights granted to consumers under applicable Finnish or EU legislation.

Where a provision of these Terms & Conditions conflicts with a mandatory statutory provision, the mandatory statutory provision shall prevail.
